Message with the driveshaft - it is lighter and offers less turning resistance (advantage of eliminating the center universals and CSB), but it isn't large in diameter (as compared to a flywheel or tire) so accelerating its RPM/mass is comparably insignificant. I would have to say that because the OEM DS(CSB) is a common part failure of higher mileage Z's and a new OEM DS is ridiculously priced, its more a matter of convenience/price than for performance. The 1-piece is lighter, rebuildable, and has less moving parts - the fact it is less expensive and could only stand to offer better performance, although likely negligible, I would have to say it is more of a 'convenience part'.
